Are You a Candidate for a Smile Makeover?
Because a smile makeover is a truly comprehensive treatment, it can be an effective way to address a wide variety of cosmetic concerns. A smile makeover may be effective if you are struggling with a number of cosmetic concerns, such as:
- Chipped teeth
- Hairline cracks
- Dental erosion
- Gaps between your teeth
- Other minor orthodontic problems, such as slightly tipped or overlapping teeth
- Unusually shaped or sized teeth
- Intrinsic or extrinsic stains
The best candidates for a smile makeover are those patients who⏤aside from their cosmetic concerns⏤enjoy good overall oral health. This typically refers to non-smokers, patients with no gum disease or decay, and those who follow good oral hygiene habits at home. If Dr. Fusco detects any oral health issues that may put your candidacy for a smile makeover at risk, he may first recommend restorative treatments to address these concerns.

Your first appointment will begin with a discussion of your goals and cosmetic options. Dr. Fusco wants to know your answer to the question, “If you had a magic wand, what would you love to improve about your smile?” Then he will listen carefully to your objectives. After understanding what you want to accomplish with your cosmetic treatments, he will review a comprehensive series of photos that have been taken of your teeth and gums. He can review these images with you and discuss your goals in a more concrete, visual way. Using these images, Dr. Fusco can then create intraoral mockups, applying temporary composite to your teeth and allowing you to see exactly how your final results will look.
Our lab will use these photos and impressions to create any restorations you may need. Therefore, we will schedule you for a free second appointment to take impressions of your smile. Once you are satisfied with your personalized diagnostic wax-up, the makeover itself can begin.

Carrying Out Your Smile Makeover
Your makeover could include a number of different procedures. Usually, the process will take place in stages, with different treatments taking place on different days. If you have chosen to include teeth whitening in your treatment plan, we will typically perform this procedure first, so that any restorations will then match the bright new shade of your teeth. These restorations could include porcelain veneers, which are essential to many smile makeovers. Achieving dramatic results on their own, these thin shells can fully conceal many different cosmetic problems. In conjunction with other restorations, the results can be transformative. Dental bonding may be appropriate if you have suffered tooth erosion. We can also provide composite fillings, bridges, and crowns. All of our restorations will come from a superior dental lab. To accelerate your treatment time, we can work with a local facility. However, for the most realistic results, we will order your restorations from a lab in Turin, Italy. There, an artisanal ceramist will use top-of-the-line materials to ensure a lifelike color, shape, and finish.
